Objectives of the webquest
1. Improve use of English in the four communicative skills: reading, speaking, reading, writing.
2. Acquire working routines and background in the fields of Tourism and Travel Agencies.
3. Get familiar with information sources, technology and management.
4. Develop personal and social skills for team work within a touroperator or a travel agency.
Contents
1. Communicative competence in English, particularly in the fields of Tourism and Travel Agencies..
2. Knowledge and procedures in the field of Tourism: destinations, transport, accommodation...
3. Computer skills: internet search, word processor, presentation and image programmes...
4. Team work: involvement, co-operation, responsibility, negotiation, respect, decision-making...
Timing
1. Between 10 and 15 fifty-minute class sessions.
2. In the final term of the school year, when students should have some experience and knowledge of the tourist industry, as well as the necessary command of English to cope with this webquest project.
Evaluation
The criteria and tools appear on the 'evaluation' page. Objects and instruments of evaluation will be:
1. The process: observation of English use, information and technology management and group work.
2. The result: project presented by each group.
3. Progress made in English: term oral and written examinations.
4. The webquest in general: student's questionnaire, projects and English exam results.
